What's the difference between PRiSM 1, 2 and 3?

PRiSM 1 is the first Friday general meeting from 10:30 to noon at the Fusion Room at the Frontier. Topics are selected by the group and focus on three areas:

  1. Developing Content
  2. Platform Skills
  3. Business of Speaking

PRiSM 2 Rehearsal is a venue to practice new content and get feedback from other professional speakers. It will take place on the First Thursday of the month from 4:00-5:15 in Dive (3rd Floor) at the Frontier. Kevin Snyder will coordinate the speakers and lead the PRiSM 2 meetings. Basic members can attend. Plus / Pro members can attend and speak.

PRiSM 3 Practice is a venue to reinforce key platform skills. It will take place on the Third Thursday of the month from 4:00-5:15 p.m. in Dive (3rd Floor) at the Frontier. Each meeting will have a different core platform skill such as gestures, pausing, vocal variety, etc.  Alan Hoffler will coordinate and lead the PRiSM 3 meetings. Basic members can attend. Plus / Pro members can attend and speak.

No PRiSM 1,2 or 3 in July or December. Only event in December is the holiday luncheon.

How will the Google Group work?

Basic, Plus and Pro members will all be in the Google Group (our current list). That’s how we will calendar the events and share updates with the Group. The ability to make requests to the Group will be limited to Plus / Pro members.

How does the call-in/recording work?

We will get a subscription to a Zoom account for PRiSM. Each PRiSM 1 meeting will be recorded using Zoom. Plus and Pro members can watch in real time if they are traveling or watch the recording afterward at their convenience.

How does the Featured Speaker function work?

eSpeakers has a function that will designate Featured speakers on the Directory. Pro members will receive this benefit.

How will Partner Offers work?

Plus and Pro members will be able to receive discounts from PRiSM partners. Partner logos will be featured in alpha order on the prismspeakers.com website. As an added benefit, only Plus / Pro members will have the option to offer discounts to the membership.

How will the Green Screen work?

There will be three or four weekend days during the first six months where Pro members could use the Green Screen studio in Suite #3708 at the Frontier. Each Pro member will have two hours each six months. Slots will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis subject to availability.

How will the Showcases work?

We will do two Showcases per year. A spring and a fall showcase. Attended Events (Evan Carroll) will own and run the PRiSM Showcases. Pro members will have the first option to sign up for the showcases and receive a 15% discount. Spots will then be offered to the rest of the group. Plus members receive a 10% discount.

How does the Free admission to conferences and events work?

We are considering making the Spring Showcase part of an all-day event on speaking. Pro members would receive free admission to both the showcase and the all-day event.

Where do the membership fees go?

Membership dues subsidize the following costs: Website development, website updates, hosting, Zoom fees, promotional budget and administrative costs.

What is the long-term vision for PRiSM?

In five years, the vision is for PRiSM Speakers to be the go-to resource for event planners, meeting professionals and association executives in the Southeast. It will become a tight-knit community of professional speakers who are continuously trying to raise their game (content, platform skills, business acumen) to allow their messages to touch more lives.

How can I join?

Membership is open to all part time and full time professional speakers. A professional speaker is defined as a speaker who has received monetary compensation for speaking (keynotes, breakouts, webinars, workshops) within the past three years. Click here to apply.

What is the commitment?

We will do six-month non-refundable commitments. You can change your level every six months. There will be no initiation fees to join the group. The only requirement for new members is to be a professional speaker. One small wrinkle. New members will be required to bring healthy snacks to the First Friday meeting where they will be introduced to the group. If there are more than two new members for a meeting, they may elect to pool together and buy lunch for the group.
